Overview

A critical piece of the immune digital twin is bridging the gap between intracellular signalling cascades and metabolic pathways. Immune cells continuously sense their environment and adjust their metabolism accordingly, which in turn feeds back into signalling events that drive activation and differentiation. My work involves building and connecting these models so that changes in one network propagate to the other.
By integrating these two layers, we can explore how nutrient availability, cytokine stimulation and other environmental cues sculpt immune cell behaviour. This integration also enables us to investigate emergent phenomena such as metabolic reprogramming during immune responses and potential therapeutic targets. The figure below illustrates an example set of results from an NF‑κB signalling model coupled with metabolic dynamics.
